European Townhome

While we have debated if this big city town house looks more Parisian, NYC, or some other European town, one thing is for sure: this is one of our all-time favorite projects, especially since we got to work for an amazing repeat client!

This 3-story townhouse renovation is a collaboration between Phase One and our sister company, Azalea Building Group. Phase One handled the architectural design changes, while Azalea Building Group did the interior design and construction. Together, the teams created a space that serves as a luxurious home base and a welcoming retreat for a well-traveled client, marking the third project we’ve completed with him.

The layout largely remained the same, but on the main level, we widened several cased openings to improve the circular flow, anchored by a grand central hallway. The study, located off the first left door, exudes warmth and sophistication with custom wood paneling and a marble fireplace. Continuing down the hallway, you’ll find the elevator, a half bath, a guest bedroom, and, at the end, the living room overlooking the back of the property. On the right side of the hallway, the formal dining room and grand open staircase, visible from the dramatic two-story entryway, add a sense of grandeur. At the heart of the main level is the kitchen, designed with clean lines, a central island featuring brass fixtures, Wolfe brand appliances, and sophisticated hardware from Plank Hardware, a London-based company.

The upper level was designed as a private retreat. The master suite features a spa-like bathroom with a striking blue geometric tile backsplash, dual mirrors with gold accents, and custom-built closet shelving for both style and functionality. Two additional bedrooms, connected by a Jack and Jill bathroom, provide comfortable accommodations for family or guests. A vaulted screen porch overlooking the city is a highlight of the upstairs, accessible from both the hallway and the master bedroom—a great spot to unwind or enjoy a quiet moment.

Throughout the home, unique lighting fixtures from Arthaus add an artistic touch. From the staircase chandelier, and the elegant bathroom sconces, to the kitchen pendant pieces, these fixtures bring character and warmth to each space.
