A Glamorous Full-House Renovation and ADU

Phase One and our sister company, Azalea Building Group, completed this full home renovation and ADU addition near Lake Katherine. The main house project included rearranging the lower level to create a better space for the owner’s sons, converting a bedroom to a laundry and walk-in closet in the primary suite, and updating finishes, fixtures, and cabinetry throughout the home. The new construction ADU provided entertaining and storage space.

Azalea carried out upgrades and renovations throughout the main house. On the entry level, we converted one of the guest bedrooms into a laundry and workout room. Before the renovation, the homeowner had to go downstairs to do laundry. The newly located laundry area has custom-built-ins with pull-out hanging space and storage. We also took part of the guest bedroom to create a full walk-in closet for the primary suite, with custom shoe and bag storage. Additionally, Azalea refinished the primary bathroom with new flooring and a new custom full-height built-in. The built-in features a hidden touch-activated makeup mirror.

Throughout the rest of the main level and upper floor, we added various built-ins, new wall coverings and paint, and new doors. We also gutted and rebuilt the main guest bath. It now has beautiful gray marble counters, elaborate sconces, and a tiled shower, as well as large-format floor tile. Azalea also completed major updates to the lower level. We rearranged the layout to include a bedroom in the back with easy access to the existing bathroom and a media area. The main feature of the media area is a large built-in entertainment center with a bar.

Carefully positioned to block out the severe summer heat, the ADU is located in the backyard and composed of a main living area, a half-bath, a screened porch, and an upstairs storage loft. The ADU offers stunning architectural features for hosting chic girls’ nights, with dramatic wooden double doors, high ceilings, shiplap, brick flooring, and an eye-catching electric fireplace in the center. Right off the main space is the wet bar and a glamorous half-bath adorned with unique wallpaper, a wall-mounted gold light fixture, and a ceramic sink. Outside on the screen porch, there is a cold plunge and an outdoor shower. Lastly, the storage loft provides year-round temperature-controlled storage.
